J.Crew - Handcrafted Game Set for High-Value Customers
J.Crew sought something far beyond branded merchandise — a collector’s object that could translate the brand’s preppy-meets-refined DNA into a tangible, handcrafted experience. The challenge was to harmonise three distinct materials into a single cohesive design, achieve a precise PMS colour match, and deliver a piece that felt as considered as it was playful.
Our artisans developed a bespoke domino set that elevates a classic game into an objet de désir. Each tile is crafted from Lacor wood and finished with 30 hand-applied layers of varnish — a process that demands patience and rewards it with a depth of finish that catches light like lacquerware. Brass detailing adds warmth and precision, while an exact PMS colour match in J.Crew’s signature hunter green ensures every piece is unmistakably on-brand. The full set rests in a velvet-lined jewellery box with brass hardware, itself housed in a custom mailer with a reinforced insert designed to protect the pieces through global distribution. The outer shipping box — lined in J.Crew’s signature stripe — turns even the delivery moment into part of the brand story.
